Rheology of polydisperse nonspherical graphite particles suspended in mineral oil

چکیده

We study the role of filler concentration and microphysics on rheology polydisperse flake-graphite particles suspended in Newtonian mineral oil. Under steady shear, our samples exhibit shear thinning, yielding behavior is observed for volume fractions [Formula: see text]. Time-temperature superposition was using an Arrhenius-type horizontal shift factor, giving a flow activation energy that dependent graphite fraction, suggesting concentration-dependent contributions to relaxation processes suspensions. The curves are fitted by constraint-based model, indicating controlled frictional adhesive contacts, with model stress temperature dependent.

Rheology of cubic particles suspended in a Newtonian fluid.

Many real-world industrial processes involve non-spherical particles suspended in a fluid medium. Knowledge of the flow behavior of these suspensions is essential for optimizing their transport properties and designing processing equipment. In the present work, we explore and report on the rheology of concentrated suspensions of cubic-shaped colloidal particles under steady and dynamic shear fl...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Rheology of non-Brownian particles suspended in concentrated colloidal dispersions at low particle Reynolds number

The shear flow of non-Brownian glass spheres suspended in a concentrated colloidal dispersion that exhibits non-Newtonian rheology is investigated. At low volume fractions, the addition of non-Brownian spherical particles to the colloidal dispersion leads to an increase in the shear viscosity as well as the dynamic moduli. The flow curves of these suspensions are qualitatively similar to the su...

Hypostatic jammed packings of frictionless nonspherical particles.

We perform computational studies of static packings of a variety of nonspherical particles including circulo-lines, circulo-polygons, ellipses, asymmetric dimers, dumbbells, and others to determine which shapes form packings with fewer contacts than degrees of freedom (hypostatic packings) and which have equal numbers of contacts and degrees of freedom (isostatic packings), and to understand wh...

Orientation of optically trapped nonspherical birefringent particles.

While the alignment and rotation of microparticles in optical traps have received increased attention recently, one of the earliest examples has been almost totally neglected--the alignment of particles relative to the beam axis, as opposed to about the beam axis. However, since the alignment torques determine how particles align in a trap, they are directly relevant to practical applications. ...
